pick pockets turns 1!
I have this idea, and i will hold myself to it, that I would love to showcase all my talented friends here as well. Whether it be friends that might not have a job, friends that are transitioning into a new field, or friends that have an amazing hobby outside of they're day to day, this is where I will give my 'show and tell' of them. It will be called "My friend can do that". So, my goal is to have a collection of those friends here, but the next time Pick Pockets has an anniversary next year.
Here's looking to another good blogging year!

"Issue 04 Fall/Winter 2009 of the interiors magazine Apartmento features none other than New York City darling Chloe Sevigny. The issue contains several photos of the actress in her Manhattan apartment, as well as a small article by Chloe in which she describes her early days in the city and how she ended up buying the apartment."

lyrically thinking
Slow Club- When I go
If we're both not married by twenty-two
Could I be so bold and ask you?
If we're both not married by twenty-three
Will you make my year, and ask me?
If we're both not married by twenty-four
Will you pass me those knee pads and I'll get on the floor
If we're both not married by twenty-five
I hope that there's some childish spark still alive
Cos there are so many lessons
That I just never get to learn
And there are so many questions that still burn, like
Will you hold my hand when I go?
Will you hold my hand when I go?
Will you hold my hand when I go?
Will you hold my hand when I go?
If I get to thirty and I don't have a wife
I'll ask you nicely but I won't ask twice
If I get to forty and I don't have a spouse
I'll fashion you a letter and I'll send it to your house
If I get to sixty will you let me slip away
Into an armchair for the rest of my days
Cos you've got your family and I've got mine
The love that we share is for another time
Cos there are so many lessons
That I just never get to learn
And there are so many questions that still burn, like
Will you hold my hand when I go?
Will you hold my hand when I go?
Will you hold my hand when I go?
Will you hold my hand when I go?

women without men
Women Without Men - Trailer from IndiePix on Vimeo.
"In her feature-film debut, renowned visual artist Shirin Neshat offers an exquisitely crafted view of Iran in 1953, when a British- and American-backed coup removed the democratically elected government. Adapted from the novel by Iranian author Shahrnush Parsipur, the film weaves together the stories of five individual women during those traumatic days, whose experiences are shaped by their faith and the social structures in place.
With a camera that floats effortlessly through the lives of the women and the beautiful countryside of Iran, Neshat explores the social, political, and psychological dimensions of her characters as they meet in a metaphorical garden, where they can exist and reflect while the complex intellectual and religious forces shaping their world linger in the air around them. Looking at Iran from Neshat’s point of view allows us to see the larger picture and realize that the human community resembles different organs of one body, created from a common essence."
